Nguyễn Mạnh Luật is a Vietnamese cybersecurity specialist. A member of the Vietnamese team that won the Cyber Sea Game 2015 championship, he is currently the co-founder and CEO of the CyberJutsu Academy Information Security Training Center.

Early Life and Education

Nguyễn Mạnh Luật was born in 1993 in Vietnam. He studied computer science at the University of Information Technology, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, graduating in 2016. Even as a student he was recruited by major technology companies in Vietnam and regularly competed in Capture The Flag (CTF) events under the nickname l4w.io.

Cyber Sea Game 2015

In 2015, during his final year of study, Nguyễn Mạnh Luật was selected alongside two fellow students from the University of Information Technology to represent Vietnam in the Cyber Sea Game 2015. The competition, open to contestants under 30 from ASEAN countries, was held in Jakarta, Indonesia in November 2015 and marked the first edition of the event, which was established to strengthen cybersecurity cooperation among ASEAN nations. Participants were drawn from winners of national information security competitions and outstanding students from relevant university programs. Nguyễn Mạnh Luật joined Team Vietnam 1, which secured the championship by a margin of 500 points over the runner-up, Thailand, becoming the first-ever Cyber Sea Games champions. Following the victory, the Vietnamese and Thai teams jointly represented the region at the global SECCON competition held in Japan in January 2016.

Career

After graduating in 2016, Nguyễn Mạnh Luật joined Tencent as a security engineer, working in the company's advanced research lab in Shanghai with a focus on attack techniques. During this period he competed in CTF events with the AOE team, achieving Top 3 at DEF CON CTF in the United States in 2017 and Top 10 at the Google Capture The Flag finals held in Switzerland.

In 2018, after more than a year in Shanghai, he left Tencent to join Microsoft in the United Kingdom, where he worked on the Incident Response Team. He remained in that role until March 2020, when he returned to Vietnam.

Founding CyberJutsu Academy

While still working abroad, Nguyễn Mạnh Luật co-founded CyberJutsu with the goal of sharing information security knowledge with the Vietnamese community. Between 2017 and 2019 he hosted numerous free live streams to disseminate expertise and industry experience. CyberJutsu formally began business operations in Vietnam in 2020, with Nguyễn Mạnh Luật serving as CEO. In August 2022, two years after launching its training activities, CyberJutsu received investment from ECQ Global, a Singapore-based cybersecurity company, to support the development of IT security personnel training in Vietnam and across the ASEAN region.

Chong Lua Dao and Community Work

During the same period, Nguyễn Mạnh Luật co-founded the non-profit project Chong Lua Dao (Scam Fighter) alongside other cybersecurity experts, including Hieu Minh Ngo. In late 2022, he and the Chong Lua Dao team received a Top 10 award for excellent digital products for a digital society at the Make in Vietnam 2022 awards. In his capacity as a security expert for Chong Lua Dao, he has provided commentary and interviews on information security and scam prevention, and has contributed to cybercrime reports produced by major global organizations including the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).

In May 2023, he presented insights on supply chain attacks at a workshop organized by the Vietnam Information Security Association (VNISA). In March 2025, he was named to the expert team for the "Digital Literacy Campaign" (Bình dân học vụ số), a initiative launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnamese Youth with Disabilities Association in coordination with Microsoft Vietnam. In May 2025, CyberJutsu and Chong Lua Dao co-organized a CTF competition at GISEC Global 2025 in the Middle East, and CyberJutsu hosted the CyberRush CTF competition at the 7th Vietnam Security Summit. CyberJutsu also served as the professional partner for the DF Cyber Defense 2025 active cyber defense drill program.

In October 2025, Nguyễn Mạnh Luật participated as a panelist at a high-level dialogue organized by Chong Lua Dao and the National Cyber Security Association (NCA) in conjunction with the signing ceremony and High-level Conference of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime (the Hanoi Convention), contributing to discussions on capacity building and inter-sectoral collaboration in cybersecurity.
