Jim Geovedi, is an IT security expert from Indonesia who focuses on the discovery of computer and network security vulnerabilities. BBC News described him as a guy who "doesn't look like a Bond villain... but possesses secrets that some of them might kill for".

Early Life

Geovedi was born on 28 June 1979 in Bandarlampung, Lampung, Indonesia. After completing high school around 1998–1999, he went through a period without steady work, at times living on the street. Despite having no formal higher education, he taught himself computer security and programming through self-directed study and hands-on experience. Media outlets have frequently cited him as an example of how empirical knowledge and personal drive can lead to success in the IT industry without a university degree.

Career

Information Security

Geovedi established himself as a prominent figure in the Indonesian and international IT security communities. In 2001, he co-founded C2PRO Consulting, which provided general IT consulting services primarily to government agencies. In 2004, he co-founded Bellua Asia Pacific, a security-focused firm that was later renamed Xynexis International in 2010. That same year he also co-founded Noosc Global, a managed security services company.

Geovedi was a member of w00w00, a hacker group that began in 1996, where he met Anthony Zboralski, who would later become his co-founder at Bellua Asia Pacific. He is currently based in London and has been consulted and interviewed on topics including satellite security systems, banking security, and law enforcement matters. BBC News described him as someone who "doesn't look like a Bond villain... but possesses secrets that some of them might kill for."

Music

Alongside his security career, Geovedi is a professional DJ and music producer. He is signed with Elektrax Recordings, a Sydney-based techno label, and has also released music under the alias SEGO.

As Jim Geovedi, he released singles including Rontok (Elektrax, 2010) and Good (Elektrax, 2011), as well as remixes for artists such as DJ Hi-Shock and Simone Barbieri Viale, released through Elektrax and BDivision between 2010 and 2011.

Under the SEGO alias, he was particularly prolific in 2009, releasing numerous singles and remixes across labels including BDivision, Plus Tokyo, Cutz, and TKC Music. Notable SEGO singles include Jakarta To Tokyo (Plus Tokyo, 2008) and Bisikan Hati (BDivision, 2009). SEGO releases continued into 2017 with singles such as Sebisanya (LeftRight Sound) and Melapar (Android Muziq).

Personal Life

Geovedi is a supporter of Arsenal Football Club. He is also a fan of death metal and grindcore music; in a 2013 interview with Beritagar, he named Napalm Death, Brutal Truth, Cannibal Corpse, and Deicide among his influences.
