Kyle Hanslovan is an American engineer and information technology security analyst who served as a US Air Force Cyber Technical Sergeant.
Military Service
Kyle Hanslovan began his career as a non-commissioned officer in the United States Air Force, serving from 2003 to 2010. Following that service, he transitioned to the Maryland Air National Guard, where he remained from 2010 to 2019 as part of the 175th Cyberspace Operations Group. During his time with the Guard, he served as a Technical Sergeant on active duty for six years, with postings that included Warfield Air National Guard Base in Middle River, Maryland.
In 2010, Hanslovan completed training through the Advanced Cyber Training Program (ACTP) at ManTech, which helped shape his subsequent career in cybersecurity operations and intelligence. He has also worked in intelligence capacities, including for the National Security Agency.
Career
From 2010 to 2013, Hanslovan worked as an analyst at ManTech International, where his focus aligned with cybersecurity and intelligence support. In 2013, he founded StrategicIO, a cybersecurity company that specialized in supporting cybersecurity operations for US government agencies. He served as its chief executive until 2017.
In 2015, while still leading StrategicIO, Hanslovan established Huntress — also known as Huntress Labs — a cybersecurity company focused on threat monitoring and intelligence. As of 2023, he serves as the company's chief executive. Huntress had approximately 300 employees as of 2023 and reached a valuation of $1.56 billion as of July 2024. The company has announced plans to go public.
Competitive Hacking
Hanslovan has participated in Capture the Flag (CTF) competitions, a common form of competitive cybersecurity challenge. He won the DEF CON CTF competition in July 2012, placing 20th, and won the NYST CTF competition in December 2016.
Affiliations
Hanslovan has been a member of the CompTIA Advisory Council since April 2020, contributing to industry-level guidance on information technology and cybersecurity matters.
