Fernando Bonsembiante (1966–2015) was an Argentine hacker and writer, known for writing extensively about the underground hacking scene on the Hispanic world.
Early Life
Fernando Bonsembiante was born on 28 May 1966 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. During the 1980s, he organized underground rock music parties at his home in Castelar Centro. These gatherings, which he called "Dragón Verde," became notable enough to inspire the creation of a rock band of the same name.
Career
Bonsembiante established himself primarily as a writer about hacking rather than as a practitioner known for technical skills. He contributed to several prominent Argentine technology and computing publications, including PC Users and Compumagazine, as well as to the general-interest periodical Página 12 and later to the major newspaper Clarín.
His most significant editorial role was as editor-in-chief of Virus Report, a magazine published between 1993 and 1995 that focused on real underground stories about hackers. The publication was notable for its coverage of the Hispanic underground hacking scene, a subject that Bonsembiante addressed extensively throughout his writing career.
He also co-authored the book Llaneros Solitarios: La Guerrilla Informática, which further documented the hacking underground for a Spanish-language readership.
Science Fiction Writing
Alongside his journalism, Bonsembiante pursued a parallel career as a science fiction writer. His earliest fiction texts were published through the Feria del Libro Independiente Autogestiva. He subsequently wrote for the science fiction outlets Axxon and Neuromante INC.
His science fiction bibliography includes several books: La Tardecita de los Dioses, Una Visita al Dios del Fuego, Historias del Movimiento Snárquico Organizado de Agitación Surrealista, Ajusten los Controles para el Corazón del Sol, and Un Dios Con Rostro Inhumano.
Death
Bonsembiante died in Buenos Aires on 8 July 2015 from a heart attack. He was buried on 11 July 2015 at the Morón cemetery.
